Ok so this is my first venture into wood mods - I've done electronics for them before but wood was never my medium of choice when building anything. However now i'm married to my lovely wife the inspiration and help is there that i needed to get started on wood projects. As i said in the other thread we currently have these going on.

dual 18650 in red oak with poplar door
dual 18650 in poplar with red oak door

single 18350 in red oak
single 18350 in red oak with poplar door

I do still have some wood left over and will probably be making one of the 18650's in a 5V 5A model.

Here's the current pics i have taken - I'll add more as they progress

That's the single 18350 in all red oak (mine :P)

The next 18350 will be burned by my lovely wife in the spots that count - The door is done but we're currently working on the body :D

Looking at your work really makes me want to build one, but I wouldn't even know where to start and I am not good with hand cutting wood. Thank you for sharing your progress. Looks really awesome:Thumbs-Up

I wasn't either - all you really need is a miter box and miter saw - grab some wood from home depot and get started :D

Well maybe someday I might try to make one and try to figure out the electrical components. Yeah thinking about it right now, I'm not sure I would be good at making one. Seeing you make them look awesome.

That is Awesome Warlordxxx:Thumbs-Up :Thumbs-Up Yes two thumbs up. And thank you for showing us the progress. It really gives me inspiration for wanting to build my own. Have you vaped it? If you have, how is it?

Yup i'ts been in my hand most of the day yesterday and it performs perfectly - I've used ecowire as the wiring inside - Ecowire uses a different coating on the outside allowing for better heat insulation in the wire - Meaning i can use thinner wire and have it carry far more amperage - 24 gauge will carry 10A no worries which is far more than this mod will ever be asked to do - I prefer overkill to underkill lol

I'm looking forward to seeing it when you complete it:Thumbs-Up I was talking to my wife about making some mods and she looked at me and just smiled:confused: She knows that it probably will not go so well if I start, but because of her reaction, it made me want to start so that I could prove her wrong:)

It looks awesome Warlordxxx:Thumbs-Up I really like the way it turned out. You are a really good Mod maker. Have you made mods made out of steel before?

Warlordxxx
11-02-2013, 08:35 PM
No steel yet - Aluminium and tin but not steel - At some point would like to get a lathe and possibly a CNC but i got a feelin that's a long way off yet lol

11-02-2013, 09:43 PM
I was just wondering, because my wife's grandpa has a lot of equipment for steel and I just wanted to know if it's hard to make mods from steel with no mod making experience.

Warlordxxx
11-02-2013, 10:44 PM
Not really - Kinda just depends on what you want to make from it - Tube mod or box - If you're making a box then a welder would be handy - Once you have a box shape though it's fairly simple :D

E-C-T_Frank
11-03-2013, 04:11 AM
I'll have to give it a try to see if I can actually make one with grandpa in-laws help:D

Warlordxxx
11-03-2013, 04:47 AM
Sure thing i got bits galore if'n you don't want to shell out to make a single mod :D

E-C-T_Frank
11-03-2013, 04:55 AM
What are the bits? I should probably know this if I'm attempting to make my own:o Is that the electronics?

Warlordxxx
11-03-2013, 04:58 AM
Yessir and it kinda depends on what you want to put in it - In a standard 3.7v mod there's a battery housing, fire button (switch), Atomizer connection (510) and On/Off if you want it and wire of course :D

Thank you for explaining it :Thumbs-Up Mod making is new to me, but yeah I might need to get some from you. I will just need to talk to the grandpa in-laws to see if he will help as I don't have a clue on how to use machine tools and if he will help then I will send you a PM to order some from you.

BTW nice Avatar:Thumbs-Up

No problem at all - I'll do a min size drawing so that he can get an idea of how small he can make it - How large depends on the size of your hand and weight of the mod :D

So I talked to grandpa in-law about helping me and he is willing to help but he didn't seem to interested, My wife also noticed it. So I came home tonight and started researching and I decided to just go with the PowerPro 26650, but before I do, I would need to know if you would have the bits for them? Or if you would have an idea on where I could get them. It's a Provari to PowerPro conversion www.fluidvaper.com/PowerPro-26650-Provari-Modders-Kit_p_281.html there's also a video on there. It uses the provari bits and top head. I don't want to buy another provari just to take it apart. Any suggestions would be great:Thumbs-Up

Warlordxxx
11-11-2013, 03:53 AM
I'd go straight through provape and get the V2 board - They may very well sell you the board spring and top cap if you explain what it's for and why you want it - They may get funny and tell you to buy a full provari but that'd be my first point of call - Next step is to check out the second hand market rather than buying new. I don't have the provari boards i'm afraid - Too little amp rating for me :D

E-C-T_Frank
11-12-2013, 03:30 AM
Thank you for the suggestions Warlordxxx:Thumbs-Up I will contact Provape to see if they are willing to sell the Board and the Top head and if they are not willing to sell the parts that I need then I will look for the used option. I was also thinking about messing around with the DNA 20 from http://www.evolvapor.com/ Just to see if I could do something with it, I like the display that is comes with and it's amp rating is pretty good. I wish they had a tube that I could buy if I decided to buy the DNA 20. I don't want to buy the DNA 20D only to look at for a year before I actually touch it, so I will have to really think about it.
